But after 12 months of grinding through gritty road slush, peanut butter gravel, or whatever questionable mud soup you decided to plow through on a Saturday morning, your drivetrain has taken a beating. Sure, our ceramic bearings are built to last, but even the best setup eventually needs a little love to stay at peak performance.
The Great Refresh, our new spa treatment, is a service you can include right when you buy your cage or pulleys. Send your beaten-up parts back to Kogel HQ, and we’ll strip them down, overhaul the internals, refinish them with the same or a new color, and send them back looking and spinning like new.
It’s like sending your bike setup off to a luxury retreat, except instead of cucumber water and hot stone massages, it gets sand-blasted and bathed in fresh Cerakote.
Pick Your Level of TLC
We kept the options menu simple. Depending on what you’re running, there are three levels of Refresh:
Level 1: Annual Service
For: Anodized pulley wheels and Kolossos pulleys.
The Lowdown: You send us your worn pulleys. We disassemble and inspect everything, clean out the dirt, install fresh seals, pack them with factory-spec grease, and send them back to you, ready for another year of facing the elements.
Level 2: Cerakote Refresh
For: Cerakoted pulley wheels or Kolossos pulleys.
The Lowdown: Same full bearing teardown and inspection as Level 1, but with a cosmetic upgrade. While your pulleys are in our possession, we will strip off the old finish and lay down a fresh coat of Cerakote in any color you want. Tired of stealth black? Go with Hi-Vis Orange or Pink Champagne. Your bike, your rules.
Level 3: Full Custom Restoration
For: Full Cerakoted Kolossos cages (cage + pulleys).
The Lowdown: The full spa treatment for your derailleur. We take your entire Kolossos setup, tear down the bearings, media blast the old finish off the cage and pulleys, and you repick the color palette. It’s a total reset button for your drivetrain’s crown jewel.
The Fine Print (Without the Legal Jargon)
We like keeping things clear so nobody gets their chamois in a twist later on:
The Timing Window: The Great Refresh is an annual program. Your voucher wakes up at the time of purchase and stays valid for 15 months. Don’t hoard it for three years like an old box of inner tubes. Use it when your bearings actually need it.
Turnaround Speed: We stock over 100 of the 170+ Cerakote colors in-house. If we have your color in stock, we turn your parts around within one business week of them arriving at our office. If you pick an ultra-obscure shade of pastel pink that we need to special order, give us two weeks.
Shipping: You pay to get the box to our office; we pay to ship your shiny, restored gear back home to your doorstep (domestic US).
What about damaged parts? If you folded your cage in half during a wild descent, a fresh coat of paint isn’t going to fix structural problems. The Refresh is for maintenance and refinishing. If we inspect your parts and see crash damage that falls outside our standard warranty, we won’t send you back unsafe parts. Instead, we will contact you with an exclusive Crash Replacement Offer so you can still get back on the trail fully restored.

When your 12-month mark rolls around or whenever you think your parts need service, reach out with a text or an email to info@kogel.cc with your order number and your color choice, or use the refresh request form. Box up your cage, ship it over to El Paso, and let our mechanics take care of the rest.
