Matt Surch

Father of two, Matt has been blogging since 2007, melding his passion for all things cycling and philosophy, specifically with regard to the philosophy of technology, ethics, and cognitive science.

Matt began racing bikes in 1993, and has competed at Elite and Masters levels in Canada and the United States, across a broad spectrum of disciplines, from cross-country, downhill and 4X MTB to, road, cyclocross, and gravel, his most ‘prestigious’ results being two 3rd place overall finishes at Canada’s biggest gravel race, Paris-to-Ancaster.

Since 2018, Matt has spent ample time traveling with his family in Europe each summer, exploring mountainous roads and village cafes in the mornings, beaches and local attractions in the afternoons. Cyclocross is Matt’s primary racing focus, because #lifedeathcyclocross (Matt Surch - @cyclosomatic)
