My name is Sera Sayar. I was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1992 as a daughter of a marathon runner, my mother, and an Ironman athlete, my father.
My sports career started with swimming when I was seven. I swam for the National Team and I broke the National Record in the women's 100m backstroke.
I’ve since stopped swimming for the university and got into business life. In the meantime, I’ve started running with my parents.
After I saw I was successful both in swimming and running, I decided to try a triathlon, and in 2013 I entered my first Olympic triathlon, placed 1st in my age group.
I raced in many triathlons from sprint to half Ironman and placed podium almost every race.
Now I’m the only Turkish athlete to be the winner of the Ironman 70.3 and the only Turkish athlete in the IM 70.3 World Championship 6 times in a row.
In 2021, my plan is to complete my first Ironman distance. Today, besides my athletic career, I am the PR and Marketing Coordinator of a global brand and working from 9 am-6 pm.
